Mr. Ed DeWitt, founder of DeWitt Family Wines, started his passion for winemaking in Philadelphia. In addition to classes he took at Philadelphia Wine School, operated by Keith Wallace (a well known wine critic and educator), Ed volunteered at two New Jersey wineries to gain some hands on experience.

Ed created his first Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon in 2010 with the assistance of Michall Pendleton, owner and winemaker at Pendleton Estate Winery. The 2010 vintage netted 153 cases and is sold out.  The following vintage, 2011, netted 185 cases and was released, for sale, June 2014.  The 2011 is now sold out. DeWitt bottled 300 cases of the 2012 and it was released in October 2015. The current vintage is 2013 and 480 cases were bottled. The DeWitts plan on bottling 600 cases of the 2014 vintage.
